Resonance in Organic Chemistry

Resonance in Organic ChemistryA Quantum mechanical model of the universe requires resonance which is the absence of equilibrium, the presence of subatomic particles in quantum mechanical orbits. The equilibrium is a structure of a material system, like water in a bubble.Resonance and symmetry are the building blocks of nature. The symmetry is usually represented as the unitary attractor when it comes to moving particles in the quantum mechanical model. The tractor must have an energy that will sustain the mass of the particle, but it must be moving with enough velocity so that the momentum will remain unchanged. For example a classical model has a force (a magnet, etc.) which is seen as the principal energy. However, when you consider the spin symmetry in nature, then this implies that there is a movement of particles without change in the energy. The electromagnetic force can be thought of this way, as one solution to the energy equation. In quantum mechanics, the electron as a fundam ental unit of energy which is the orbital of the electron. Each orbital can have an energy, and there is an orbital which can be excited to a different energy by a force. When the orbital is excited to a higher energy, it will create a new orbital of the same energy which has a lower energy. When the electron's orbitals are excited, the energy density goes up and the two electrons must now be orbiting at different speeds. At least for atoms, this is very unlikely, and so the particle's energy is conserved. In the electron, the spin or orbital is usually described as the angular momentum of the electron. This is analogous to the hydrogen atom, where each electron is associated with a photon. The electrons in a hydrogen atom are not tied together by any forces, so they are able to move around in their orbits freely, but they also have attractive and repulsive repulsion forces which allow them to overlap. A negative ionization of the atom can only occur when there is some negative ioniza tion, and it will create an electric field in the nucleus. An increase in the intensity of the electric field or ionization will allow the nucleus to collide, and the two positively charged electrons will be attracted to each other and interact with each other, creating neutralized atoms. There is no requirement for a chemical reaction to take place in order for an atom to become ionized. The electron is the easiest form of 'particle' to describe, and the dominant component of any living thing.

How to Fight Plagiarism in the Digital Age

How to Fight Plagiarism in the Digital Age Plagiarism isnt a new problem, but it has become a more obvious issue in todays digital age, where a world of information is at every students fingertips, and its too easy to copy, paste, and save. How can you teach your students not to plagiarize and deter this unethical behavior? Here are a few suggestions: Educate them about it. Your students have grown up using technology, but dont assume that they know what it means to plagiarize. Explain that stealing others work, intentionally or not, is cheating and will get them in big trouble. Give examples of work that has been improperly cited or copied verbatim (or close). Create a handout so that there is no confusion. Give clear guidance. Articulate your expectations of students. Clearly, you dont want them stealing paragraphs from the internet, but when and how should they cite sources? Are there situations where it is acceptable to incorporate ideas shared by others into ones own work without crediting the source? Discuss the consequences of plagiarism. Your school and/or district probably have guidelines in place regarding the punishment for academic dishonesty and plagiarism. Go over these rules as well as your own with students. Use plagiarism checkers when grading. There are plenty of software tools and websites out there that will help you check that your students are not copying work from any published sources. Ask your school technology department if they have a recommendation or if your school already has a subscription to a tool. Talk about the importance of not copying other students work, too. With social media and photo text messaging, its easy for students to help each other out with a quick snapshot of homework or notes. Let students know that you are watching for writing assignments and written responses that look identical or very similar and that the consequences of copying each others work are the same as plagiarizing published work. Ultimately, its important that you remind students that those who plagiarize are only cheating themselves. Establish rules, educate your students on best writing practices, and use tools to help you keep your students honest.

4 Most Reliable Food Delivery Apps

4 Most Reliable Food Delivery Apps Image via Pixabay Seamless Reliability is basically in the app’s title: ordering from Seamless if truly a seamless process that goes off without a hitch. The number of restaurants that are on Seamless depends on the location, but if your favorite sushi place is on this app, order right now. The timing of delivery also depends on the restaurants, but the delivery drivers are usually outside your door between 25 and 40 minutes. There is very little human contact involved (thank goodness) and you can pay and tip directly on the app. The app is also good about relaying information, like substitutions and modifications to your order, to the restaurant, and their customer service is excellent. In addition, they also e-mail you with promotions all the time that will help discount your order. GrubHub GrubHub is also extremely reliable and highly prevalent on most college campuses. Similarly to Seamless, GrubHub delivers food usually between 25 and 40 minutes (however, like I said this is restaurant-dependent), and modifications to the order are relayed between the app and the restaurant 99.99% of the time. If the food/delivery is not up to standard, the customer service line is fantastic and if you call them about something that is out of their control, they are great about directing you to someone who can actually help you. They give you a number to use to communicate with your delivery driver and you can even track your order (I’m always drooling while looking at the tracking part of the app because I’m so hungry). Like Seamless, you can pay and tip directly on the app. Be sure to use an e-mail that you check regularly so that you can take advantage of the promotions and discounts that they have. Image via Pixabay Door Dash Door Dash is an app that I only discovered six months ago, and I used it a bunch at school and a little bit at home. They had many more restaurant options compared to Seamless and GrubHub, however, they weren’t as reliable as those two apps. For example, sometimes substitutions and modifications aren’t told to the restaurant, even when you explicitly state something. However, I do love their advance tracking system. It’s similar to Uber Eats where you can track the exact location of the delivery driver’s car. When I have had issues with Door Dash, they are very accommodating about refunds and will make sure that the refund goes through the minute you complain. You can use Apple Pay, which is great and easy for iPhone users, and you sometimes get a small delivery discount when you sign up using Apple Pay instead of a credit card. Uber Eats I love Uber and I love Uber Eats. They have the best delivery times compared to any of the apps I’ve used and you can track the car using the GPS feature. They are great about refunds when something isn’t up to your standard and are good at communicating with the restaurant about your order and any changes you’ve made to it. All of the delivery drivers that I have had through Uber Eats have been kind, efficient, and have been great about updating me about their location (little did they know that I was staring at the order tracking feature of the app the entire time I was waiting for my food to come). If you don’t already have Uber Eats on your phone, I recommend you download it ASAP (also, side note, if you don’t have regular Uber on your phone you should download that too because they are also reliable and efficient). Well, there you have it ladies and gentlemen. If you like ordering out as much as I do, then download these apps right now. It’s cold outside, it’s not worth it to walk in the freezing cold or drive in the snow just to get a big, warm slice of pizza. So, what are you waiting for? Order delivery now!

What to do After Sending in College Applications - TutorNerds

What to do After Sending in College Applications - TutorNerds 4 things students should do after sending in college applications Most college applications are due either November 1 or December 1, depending on the particular university. After that point, students will wait until the spring to find out where they have been accepted. It can feel like one of the most extended periods of time in a student’s life, but there are lots of things they can do to keep their minds occupied while waiting for college acceptance letters. Whether students are focusing on keeping their GPA high or looking for scholarship opportunities, there are tons of things students can do that will make their life easier once theyre in college get into your dream school with the help of a private San Diego college admissions consultant from TutorNerds. 1. Financial aid Many students will rely on financial aid to help them pay their way through college. There are several different types of financial aid including FAFSA and countless other private financial aid opportunities including need-based scholarships. Because these forms take a long time to fill out and because many students can only attend college if they receive some assistance, its important they know what their financial situation will be before choosing a specific college or university. 2. Merit-based scholarships In addition to need-based financial aid, students should apply for as many merit scholarships as possible. There are many scholarships available ranging from $250 to several thousand dollars, any of which can make a college student’s life easier. A smaller scholarship might help pay for books or allow students to take off from work during finals week while larger scholarships might pay for an entire years tuition. Once college applications have been sent out, students should make a list of any and all merit scholarships they are eligible for and start writing essays or personal statements they will need to apply (READ: 4 Things You Can do to Keep Your Grades High Over the Holidays). 3. Focus on AP courses Its easier for students to let their AP courses fall by the wayside when they are busy filling out college applications. However, that means they might be a little behind once they get back from holiday break. Its essential for students to make sure they are 100% on track when it comes to their AP courses so they can achieve a score of 3 or higher when they take the exams in May. Students with lots of AP courses under their belt may be able to skip some classes at the college level, which can ultimately help them graduate on time or early and also allow them to choose elective courses that they are more excited about. 4. College visits Because the majority of students apply to 10 or more colleges these days, they may not have a chance to visit every campus before the application deadline. However, if students have an opportunity to visit the campus once their college applications have been sent out theyll have a better idea of the choices they will have in front of them once acceptance letters come in the mail. Some college campuses are huge and are located right in the middle of a major city, some are very small and surrounded by rural towns, while others still have a suburban location. Students need to know where they will be living and what sort of lifestyle they’ll have once they are out on their own. Still applying to college? Persuasion And Negotiation Techniques For Acing Interviews And Lowering Your Rent

Persuasion And Negotiation Techniques For Acing Interviews And Lowering Your Rent Photo courtesy of Wiki How. Lower Your Rent Negotiating rent is something everyone should look into if theyre renting from a private (or at least accessible) landlord. For example, if youre looking to live off-campus, it might be beneficial to look into an apartment or condo being rented by a single, private owner, or from someone subleasing, because they will be more likely to negotiate prices in order to get their place rented more quickly. On a personal note, I subleased an apartment last year for 100 dollars less than I had been asking for, simply due to the fact that I was in such a hurry to have someone paying at least the majority of the rent. You can use this, and the techniques below, to your advantage. Know The Market No, you dont have to know the economic ins and outs of the housing market, but you should gain an idea as to the rental prices around your campus or where youre preparing to rent.  What The Neighbors Pay,  a section of the Apartment Ratings website, is a great tool that allows you to search rent and price demographics for certain cities, neighborhoods and complexes. Knowing the average prices for the area youre looking into renting allows you to have an idea of how low you can feasibly negotiate, and also helps you avoid paying higher than the average. Also be sure to look into your landlords market; knowing how long an apartment has been empty or how many empty apartments they have in the area can help you gauge how receptive they will ultimately be to your negotiation. Time It Right According to an article in  Forbes, landlords are more willing to negotiate near the end of the month because it usually means the apartment has been empty for longer. As with my experience, renters are more likely to accept a lower price rather than risk the apartment not being filled. Forbes also recommends to, if you have a lease, start your negations early so that you give yourself enough time to find another apartment (or convince your landlord you could). If you start too early, however, your landlord may simply find a new tenant to replace you, the article stated. Haggle Now that you know the market and its the end of the month, you can begin your negotiation.  Roger Dawson, author of  Secrets of Power Negotiating,  said in an article for  Forbes  that negotiators don’t deal in reality, they deal with perceptions. He goes on to explain that being comfortable going into a situation without a concrete outcome is essential, and to also be mentally prepared and confident in your pitch. To begin, always ask for a lower price than you think youll receive. This sets the table for compromise, which is really what the haggle is all about. Also be sure to explain your reasoning in a non-aggressive manner and  avoid hesitant language, such as umm and I mean, seeing as they make you appear unsure in your argument. If your landlord turns out to be uncompromising on the rent, Forbes also recommends negotiating parts of the rent, such as asking for free parking or a fresh coat of paint. Ace An Interview Interviews involve mostly persuasion rather than negotiation techniques, as youre essentially asking the potential employer to buy what youre selling (you), which is why many sales techniques are useful for interviews. Research and Empathize Just as you need to know your market to negotiate rent, you need to know the company youre applying to in order to persuade the interviewer to hire you. This involves not only researching the basics of the company, but also the position youre applying for. Knowing the company and its current state and current events allows you to ultimately empathize with the interviewer. The best way to do this, according to an article via the  Global Post, is to connect the job to your qualities, making statements such as, Your job description emphasized detail orientation, which is a quality my managers have always recognized in me. Connect There are many ways to connect with an interviewerwith empathy, as listed above, but also with different nonverbal and verbal cues. You still want to avoid the hesitant language I mentioned earlier, since in an interview it would signal uncertainty regarding your qualifications. You can also build rapport by mirroring the posture and movements of the interviewer (not overly so, but subtly) and by maintaining friendly eye contact. Its also useful to connect through complimenting, but rather than using generalized complements (I just  love  your company!),  try to complement a procedure within the company that you enjoy. For example, a common question in interviews asks what you didnt like about your last job. A useful way to turn this into a positive statement and give a complement is to say something like I didnt enjoy the overly pushy, out-of-date marketing techniques my previous company used, but prefer marketing techniques that develop a connection between the products and the customers through relatable copy, such as with the campaign your company used for so-and-so product last month. As you can see, the dislike of pushy marketing campaigns turned into a positive view of connecting through marketing and a complement on how the interviewers company utilizes their marketing. Strong, specialized statements such as these create a powerful persuasive pull, as theyre in-depth and leave little question in the interviewers mind that you know the job youre applying for. Stand Out Through Email People remember what they saw first or last  but almost never what they saw in the middle, said  Joanna Wiebe, copywriter and author of Copy Hackers. This is especially important advice to think about when sending emails or crafting any piece of written communication. Having an engaging subject line or opening line is an indirect way of persuading the reader to keep reading; if the first sentence commands drool and eye blur, you can bet the person youre trying to reach hit delete and took a nap instead of reading your proposal. This isnt to say you have to have an off the wall or weird subject line of an email; after all, you dont want it to be disregarded as spam, but you should pepper the first sentence of your email with an uncommon word or two. A study titled The Bizarreness Effect: Its not surprising, its complex, found that people were best able to recall messages when bizarre nouns were  mixed with  common words in a standard sentence, as Weibe summarized on her website. The key is to make the subject clear with an uncommon word mixed in, or if you dont feel comfortable being a little bold with a subject line, save it for the first sentence of your email. Again, no need to go crazy, but do get a little creative. What would make you open one email over another out of the 20 emails asking the same thing or applying for the same position? Vacations really do have the power to help you hone certain business skills, or at least bring them to light. In fact, gambling in Vegas can make you a master risk evaluator, financial strategist okay, now Im going too far (maybe). Regardless, persuasion and negotiation are, indeed, skills that can save you shopping money or aid you in making more money, even if youve never used them abroad. And to that I say, happy haggling!

How to Amaze Natives with Your Foreign Language Pronunciation

How to Amaze Natives with Your Foreign Language Pronunciation Conquer Foreign Language Pronunciation and Speak Like a Native I would like a sheet of paper, says the man. His accent is unmistakably foreign.Excuse me? asks the woman behind the desk who sounds like someone has just insulted her mother.I need a sheet of paper. To write on, the man repeats, adding clarification and hand gestures.Oh! A SHEET of paper. Here you are.Sheet is just one of those words that sounds too close to a vulgarism. Its simply too easy for non-native speakers to mispronounce the  ee sound as an  i sound as in the word hit, or something close to that anyways.Of course, after all is said and done the native speaker will probably find the whole situation amusing, but for the non-native speaker this sort of situation can be incredibly embarrassing. This may be an extreme example, we probably dont all go around worrying about accidentally swearing out our conversation partner, but the fear of embarrassment when speaking a foreign language is one of the critical factors that can really hold you back from learning.Want to speak like a native? Youve got to make mistake after mistake and have someone correct you. For many people, this level of constant criticism can be really intimidating.Thankfully there are some things that you can do to bolster your confidence that go a long way. If you do these things, youll feel more comfortable having a conversation, knowing that even if youre making mistakes youre still able to make yourself clearly understood. Conquer Foreign Language Pronunciation and Speak Like a NativeHere well focus on pronunciation since this is key to conversational speech. How do you know what youre actually  saying is what you think youre saying? The only way to be sure is to have excellent pronunciation.Even if youre far, far away from having a detailed knowledge of the language, a good accent can catch other people off guard. When people start telling you that think youre a native Spanish speaker, for example, youre going to have enough confidence to think of yourself as  the king of Spain. To ge t to this level, here are the steps you should start taking today.1. To speak, you must first learn to listen. As children, we spend a lot of time just listening to adults speak. Over time, the sounds of our native language become ingrained in our own speech and we sound just like everyone else around us. And so naturally, when considering how to make successful  voyages through new languages,  its always best to start off with lots of listening to really capture the sounds well later have to utter in conversation. It doesnt matter if youre just starting out, if youre improving or if youre nearly fluent. Listening is key to speaking.Be sure to choose as many possible sources of audio as you can think of. There are all of the usual suspects available to you: television, movies, podcasts, news broadcasts, music, etc. However, even if you spend every waking moment listening to these things, all of that listening wont be worth a dime if youre not actively listening. To ensure you get in lo ts of good active listening practice, choose something thats at your level and that you can mostly understand without having to look up a ton of words. You should also try to find something that comes with a transcript where you can look up all the unknown words ahead of time or after listening. To compliment your extensive listening practice with various source materials, youll need some intensive practice to really hone in on the sounds youre hearing. The easiest way to do this is to work with minimal pairs.Minimal pairs are pairs of two words that sound the same except for one syllable. For instance, wine and vine. For many non-native English speakers, the v and w sounds can be difficult to differentiate. Its possible to find audio files for many such words where you only hear one of the two words and you have to guess which one it was. This is perfect to turn your blunt listening skills into a fine, precision instrument.2. Learn the International Phonetic Alphabet. So now youve go t the sounds down in your head. Time to start making those sounds yourself. But where to start? If youre completely new to a language, learning the International Phonetic Alphabet, or IPA, can go a long way to aiding your pronunciation. The IPA breaks down all of the sounds we humans can possibly make into the smallest possible units of sound, or phonemes. It also renders these phonemes into consistent spelling patterns. For instance, in English the ch  sound can be pronounced like a sh  sound as in parachute, a k  sound as in ache  or something else entirely as in the word loch.No writing systems that Im aware of match their spoken sounds to written characters perfectly. English is particularly bad in this respect. The IPA, however, simplifies this by using a different character for each particular sound. So, first things first. Get a list of all the IPA sounds in your target language and practice, practice, practice! Its fairly easy to find IPA charts that show words in English with similar phonemes to your target language. Its also possible to learn about how each sound is made according to how wide you open your mouth and how your tongue is positioned. This can be more helpful with sounds that have no close relative in the language or languages you already speak. To really nail the IPA and how its connected to your target language, make some flashcards. On one side have the IPA symbol for one phoneme and on the reverse side have whatever way that phoneme can be spelled in the writing system of the target language.3. Get your mouth moving.Once youve mastered the phonemes of your target language, its time to take a step up. Obviously the next part of the journey is to start saying words and sentences. A lot of this is just going to be repetition until your mouth is comfortable saying common words in your target language. But thats the old fashioned way, you might say. Surely, theres something I can do to learn faster. While nothing can entirely replace talking en ough to get used to new sounds, there certainly are some tricks you can use to enhance your performance.Remember those minimal pairs we were talking about earlier? Well now its time to reverse the game. Make pairs of words that sound similar except for one sound and grab someone who speaks your target language. Show them the two words you have and then say only one of them, having them point to the one they think you said. If they can pick the right word every time then you know that youre comprehensible at the very least.Other classic tricks include learning to sing songs in your target language and using tongue twisters, both of which are good tools to have in your arsenal. One more should be added though: shadowing.Shadowing is about listening to a sentence, or some longer chunk of dialogue, and then repeating it back. Why is this helpful? In all of the above techniques, we were just focusing on single word pronunciation. Shadowing will improve your rhythm and intonation. This isn t just about sounding good, its about grammar. The way we raise and lower our voices conveys important information to our listeners, like when intonation rises at the end of a question.4. Catch your mistakes.Youve probably heard it a million times by now, but its true. You cant learn if you dont make mistakes. But you also cant learn if you dont know what your mistakes are.The least cumbersome way to go about this is to record yourself speaking. Have you ever listened to your own voicemail message only to realize it sounds nothing like what you thought you sound like? The same will be true in a foreign language where youre probably making mistakes you dont even realize. But if you catch them on a recording, youll have better luck catching them when youre actually speaking. If you really want to improve, though,  youre going to need a language partner. Language partners are critical for getting good at pronunciation. Whether its a teacher, your best friend or someone you found online, having a native speaker correct your pronunciation will rocket you to previously unknown levels of tongue twister success. Scientific studies have even verified how effective immediate error correction from a native speaker can be compared to traditional listening techniques.5. Become culturally refined.Read novels set in the land of your target language. Watch movies about foreign romances in whatever part of the world speaks the language. Brush up on your history of the appropriate country or countries. Do anything which will give you a better cultural understanding. How can this possibly help with my pronunciation? you might ask. But research has shown that students with the greatest sensitivity to the culture they were studying were also the ones best able to achieve high levels of pronunciation. It shouldnt be too surprising that our cultural identity is deeply intertwined with how well we speak. After all, if you think the French are all snobs youll probably have no interest i n sounding like they do, even if you can mechanically memorize French grammar and words. But with any luck, youre studying a language you love and youll be able to blow through these steps thanks to your undying motivation. After youve finished with all this great practice, youll be sure to have the confidence you need to speak to anyone and know youre saying what you think youre sayingat least 99% of the time.

Choosing A Chemistry Tutor

Choosing A Chemistry TutorA chemistry tutor can be a great asset for the students of any college or university in learning about science. The better students get, the more ambitious and knowledgeable they will become in their future careers, like choosing a career as a chemist, a geologist, a paleontologist, an archaeologist, a chemistry engineer, etc. Many college graduates from the United States want to become chemists, biologists, geologists, and other professionals in science. The best way to succeed in this area is to get a college or university with a chemistry tutor who specializes in science, so that he or she will have enough knowledge to choose a better career than one where they would become an average worker. Some universities offer an exam to test a candidate's understanding of chemistry and are called CSUA (College Students of the US A). CSUA tests have many different subjects covered, ranging from chemistry for college students to humanities for high school students, and even tests for other jobs such as psychology. The question and answer section in CSUA are usually very easy and clear. The top few answers are the ones given by the candidates who had actually taken chemistry exams, but the majority of candidates are given an easier course to learn chemistry. The CSUA test is quite similar to an SAT or ACT test. It has been used in the past to screen out those students who are not good enough for the college or university, but can still contribute to their future education and careers. The scores for the CSUA exam are determined by a panel of three professors, and the exam is completed after receiving a score from the last four candidates who took the exam. This is usually the top ten questions, and the highest score in that section will determine the final exam score. One disadvantage of taking a CSUA exam is that it can sometimes be difficult to understand if you have the right level of knowledge and understanding. Other methods such as taking the AP Chemistry exam or getting a chemistry tutor can help students increase their knowledge and level of understanding of chemistry.

What Is Online Tutoring In Math?

What Is Online Tutoring In Math? The idea of online tutoring in math is a little more interesting than the traditional method of online tutoring and if you've thought about it, you may have already considered online tutoring in math. So what's the difference?A free online tutor can give you answers for things you haven't asked for in a while or sometimes even answered the same way as you did but for some reason you're not able to figure out the answer on your own. An online tutor may be willing to help, but you may need to do the homework yourself. To be able to do that, you may need to find an online tutor who has a high passing grade. Some may also require an online tutor certification before being considered. When an online tutor requires a certification, they will test your ability to learn the lessons or they will give you a test to see how well you comprehend what they are trying to teach you. When choosing a tutoring in math, you can consider not only how much they are charging, but also how easy it is to understand the content of the lesson. It's always better to choose a good tutor that will get you the skills you need rather than just one who will get you one which is impossible to use.You will need to look for a reputable online tutor to make sure that they are reputable and that they have a diploma or certification. It is easier to choose a tutor who has a great reputation because if he doesn't have a certificate, then there is no point in putting your hard earned money in his hands. Try and find an online tutor that has an excellent reputation because this will go a long way to increasing your chances of success. It is important to consider who your tutor is in particular. Is it an actual teacher or is it someone with a certificate from an organization? Usually, if the tutor has a diploma from an organization, that shows that the tutor is legit and thus, you should take your time and only sign up with him if you're sure that you are going to get the s ervice you expect from your tutor. When you do that, you'll never get scammed and have a great experience.Sometimes online tutoring in math is done for the purpose of providing supplemental education to someone who can't afford to go to a normal school because he or she lives too far away from the institution. This is usually the result of low-income families being unable to send their children to the school that their children would like to attend.Finding an online tutor is one of the most important decisions you have to make when you start your education. Just remember that you will need a good tutor to help you in making the right choices in life. Online tutoring in math is no different.
